CATHEDRAL OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

For Dave Brubeck’s To Hope! A Celebration at Sacramento’s Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, SSS provided the PA, live sound reinforcement, and a 32-channel multitrack recording. Room microphones captured the cathedral’s natural reverb alongside the individual microphone feeds.
The performance featured Chris and Dan Brubeck, pianist Joe Gilman, the Cathedral Choir & Orchestra conducted by Ryan Murray, and soloists Omari Tau and Jeanette Blakeney.

Show booking agents, festivals and venues how your band sounds on stage. Our band EPK video production combines a live performance session and multitrack audio with full-song edits, artist interviews or a promo reel for your electronic press kit (EPK).
Film at a show, at your location, or in a booked Skip’s Music rehearsal room, with vintage backline available for the session.
Multicamera concert video production pairs timecode-synced cameras with separate audio tracks for a dedicated mix, with several camera angles for the edit. We can also prepare a stage plot and input list, checked with your band against the session patch, for venues and talent buyers.

On-location choir recording, plus orchestra and chamber ensemble multitrack recording. We balance close microphones, ensemble coverage, and room sound for a dedicated recording mix.

The sE Electronics RNT (manufacturer product page, opens in a new tab) is sE and Rupert Neve Designs’ flagship tube condenser: a handcrafted capsule, fully discrete Class-A stages and the same custom op-amps used in the 5088 console. Its nine polar patterns let us balance an intimate vocal or acoustic instrument against the room around it. The Lauten Audio LT-321 Horizon (manufacturer support page; legacy model, opens in a new tab) offers another tube voice, with a NOS 6J1 tube and cardioid pickup.
For ribbon capture, the Warm Audio WA-44 (manufacturer product page, opens in a new tab) follows the large-format RCA 44 tradition; the beyerdynamic M160 (manufacturer product page, opens in a new tab) offers a focused hypercardioid pattern. Warm Audio WA-87 R2 (manufacturer product page, opens in a new tab) condensers add cardioid, omni, and figure-8 choices for individual sources or stereo recording.

From the microphone to the mix.
Our recording systems handle individual overdubs and full performances, with headphone mixes for musicians and connections for live sound feeds. A vocal might run through a WA-87 R2, WA73-EQ and 76A Deluxe; another source might use Hazelrigg DVA (manufacturer D Series page covering this model, opens in a new tab), DLC and DNE. For a stereo stem, compare Ultraviolet EQ with SB4000 VCA or _RHEA vari-mu compression. We choose the signal chain around the performer, instrument, and sound you want.

Direct boxes, the 48-channel transformer-isolated analog split, patchbays, and modular snakes route audio to recording and live production, with phantom-power responsibility agreed before connection.
