Model details

Take the edge off a bright guitar cabinet while keeping the pick attack, or capture cymbals with a more rounded top end. The M160 combines double-ribbon transient response with an unusual hypercardioid pattern, giving the engineer a focused way to capture amps, drums, brass and strings. Placement matters: the rejection angles sit around 110° and 250°, with some sensitivity remaining directly behind the microphone. Its passive XLR output needs a suitable microphone preamp, and quieter sources may need substantial clean gain. Use it for a close cabinet sound, a mono overhead or a deliberately placed room perspective.

Typical uses: Guitar cabinets · Drum overheads · Brass
