Start with the rider and the date.
A backline rider is the performer’s instrument and amplifier request. Send the current version with the event date, venue, and a contact who can approve equipment choices. If there is no formal rider, a list from each musician is a useful starting point.
Distinguish the model that is essential to the performance from a preference that allows alternatives. Include rehearsal dates or multiple show dates when equipment is needed for more than the performance itself.
Be specific about each setup.
- Keyboards: Name the model, stand, bench, pedals, and amplification needed. A Rhodes Stage and a Rhodes Suitcase are different requests. For a Hammond and Leslie setup, confirm the organ, speaker, and required connections together.
- Guitar and bass: Specify the amplifier head and cabinet or the exact combo, plus any instrument, stand, or pedal requirements. Flag essential features and acceptable alternatives.
- Drums: List shell sizes, configuration, snare, cymbals, hardware, pedals, throne, and any percussion. Note what the drummer will bring.
- Vintage instruments: Identify what matters about the particular model. Confirm the requested configuration before relying on a listed example for a show.

Share the stage plot and show schedule.
A stage plot shows where the performers and equipment go. Send it with the input list—the audio connections the engineer needs to plan—and identify equipment shared between acts. For a festival or several bands, include the order of performances and the time available for each changeover.
Flag backing-track playback, in-ear monitors, and wireless systems the band is bringing. That helps us discuss how the backline fits with the rest of the live rig. We also offer hands-on training with a band’s own equipment.
Plan access and equipment handoff.
- Venue address, load-in entrance, parking arrangements, and any stairs or elevator restrictions.
- Delivery or collection arrangements, setup window, soundcheck, show finish, and load-out.
- Who will receive the equipment, approve the setup, and be available at the end.
- Any on-site technician or changeover support needed during the show.
Backline is the instruments and related stage equipment. If you also need microphones, monitors, a PA, or an engineer, include that in the request so we can plan the sound and production package together.
